The First Lessons I Learned About Having Enough

A moment from the life and lessons that eventually shaped Koa.

Story KOA-STORY-001 · An editorial adaptation of earlier founder writing

I grew up in Hawaiʻi knowing what it was like for money to be tight and for a family to work hard to keep things going. Early on I wanted a different possibility for my own life. The desire was not fame. It was the freedom to choose what mattered.

What this chapter taught me

I held on to that determination through university, business and motherhood. Much later, I began asking a bigger question: what does having enough mean if you have money but little time for family or for yourself? My roots help me remember why I build at all.
