Chapter 7 · Teaching leaders, not followers

The Relationship Didn't Have to End With the Program

A founder story about teaching and shared leadership.

KOA-STORY-067 · Historical founder story adapted for public reflection

I wrote about meeting a former client and friend years after we first worked together, while our travels finally brought us into the same place. I have also reflected on clients reaching out much later because something in our earlier conversations still mattered to them.

The leadership lesson I carried forward

Those relationships remind me that a course is not the whole story of a person's life. People keep changing long after an offer ends. If they choose to stay connected, I want the relationship to be grounded in genuine respect, not only in another sale.

Reflection

What kind of leader are you becoming?

What makes a professional relationship feel caring and respectful even when no transaction is happening?

Your contribution does not need to look like mine to matter.
